The AI space moves faster than your Monday deadlines — and two recent drops caught our eye: Janitor AI and Pika Labs. At AI ToolBook, we don’t just list shiny new tools—we test them, break them, and (sometimes) fall in love with them.
Here’s what happened when we gave these two a real spin.
Janitor AI is a chatbot platform for roleplay and casual conversation, known for being ultra customizable. You can create or chat with characters in your own worlds, with options ranging from anime personas to wild fantasy companions. It's also part of the wave of AI "companions" that are becoming surprisingly lifelike.
We picked a character called “Techie Tom” and tried onboarding it as a fake intern for our team. We asked Tom to summarize product ideas, organize tool categories, and make dumb jokes (which, honestly, weren’t too different from our real Slack banter).
"When it called me Chief of Prompt-Ops, I almost gave it a raise." — someone on our team.
Personality customization is a delight — you can tweak behavior, tone, memory.
The RP (roleplay) angle makes it way more engaging than your average chatbot.
It works surprisingly well even when asked to do non-roleplay tasks, like note-taking or summarizing.
It leans heavily into the NSFW/NSFL side of the internet. You’ll want filters on if you’re testing in public.
It’s more fun than functional. Don’t fire your VA just yet.
Janitor AI isn’t a business productivity tool — but for creative brainstorming, personal entertainment, or just letting your imagination roam, it’s a worthy experiment. Just… maybe not in the middle of a Zoom meeting.
Pika Labs lets you turn text into short videos, including character motion, dynamic camera moves, and cinematic transitions. It’s a clear competitor to Runway and Sora, and while it doesn’t hit Pixar levels (yet), it’s blazingly fast and impressively creative.
We typed: "A futuristic workspace where robots and humans collaborate to build AI tools. Neon lights. 4K. Epic synthwave music."
It gave us a 10-second clip that looked like a teaser for a Black Mirror episode. Our social media manager immediately uploaded it to Insta (after some filters, of course).
"I’d use this for every product demo if it didn’t make all the people look like they were made of rubber and regret." — another ATB team member.
Speed: Outputs are generated in under 2 minutes.
Motion + camera movement: Far beyond most basic text-to-video tools.
Creativity boost: Perfect for ideation, prototyping, and social media hooks.
Still lacks control. Your “happy dog” might come out looking like an overcaffeinated wolf on ice skates.
No native audio or sound editing yet.
Best results often come with a few prompt tweaks and retries.
Pika Labs is one of the most exciting AI video tools we’ve played with lately. Great for quick marketing content, visual prototypes, and creative expression. Just don’t expect full-length masterpieces—yet.
These tools sit on different ends of the AI playground—Janitor AI is for when you're done with spreadsheets and want a little chaos. Pika Labs is for when your imagination needs a production crew. Both feel like early peeks into AI’s weird and wild potential.
And we’ll say this: If these are the side projects, just imagine what the big players are cooking.
